2006 Etec question

I bought a 2006 Etec from a dealer. After I got the title I talked to the original owner. He said that the motor was on it's 3rd power head and on the 3rd power head he had to put a fuel injector in #3 cylinder. Lost #2 cylinder on both power heads. He said he ran synthetic oil on the first 2 power heads and went to 50/50 on the 3rd. Is this a common problem that I have not heard about or did I just buy a lemon?

Re: 2006 Etec question

Multiple power head failures (Etec or not) are generally due to the shop not actually diagnosing the original problem. They throw a new power head on and don't realize its not the power head itself that is at fault but something else. You said a new injector was needed in the third power head. Could it be that that injector had been the issue with the first engine, transferred to the second and third and therefore the cause of the problem in the first place. New power heads don't generally come with all the accessory items necessary to make it run. I think the original owner was dealing with a competency issue -- not a design problem.

Re: 2006 Etec question

The injector was on a diferent cylinder not saying that wasn't the problem. I have bee told that when Bombardier replaces a power head it comes complete with wiring harness ready to bolt on. I was just woundering if any one else had had the same issues with their motors.
