2006 Johnson 2 Stroke Question

Hi,

I am new to the boating scene and recently purchased a 2006 15hp Johnson outboard. I mixed the fuel a little rich, 25-1 and when I wet tested the motor it smoked quite a bit. When I took the motor out of the water and placed it back on it's stand, I noticed black oily sludge seeping out around the rear of the prop. I assume this is a result of the rich mixture and I also assume this particular outboard exhaust through the prop center. Can anyone verify this?

A little rich ! Should be 50:1

Thats 1 pint of oil in 6gallons (near enough)

more precisely

2.56 fluid ounces per US gallon

3.2 fluid ounces per UK gallon

20mls per litre anywhere in the world except the USA ... not heard of litres yet

2% if you are a mathematician
