Hello all,

I'm looking to replace the impeller on my 25EFI along with diagnose a noise that I get when in neutral. I have a service manual but am confused on how to disconnect the shift linkage on this motor. Do I have to push out the number 5 pin on this diagram?

If anyone has done this before any help would be appreciated. I have downloaded a service manual but it is very unclear where to disconnect the shift linkage.

Yes push out the lower pin so the block stays with the upper rod. One ? are you getting a over heat horn.

I apologize about the link, I wasn't aware it would be cut off. I am not getting an overheat horn, the tell tale is not as strong as it used to be and I've always done it as cheap insurance on all my motors.

What is the best way to press that pin out? I've tried a punch but I can't seem to get a good whack on it as the linkage flexes.

yep pain in the butt, but use a very small punch it will come out, maybe have someone hold a hammer on the back side.
