2006 Merc Optimax trim problem, trimming"in" on it's own

Once while unloading, once while loading I noticed the trim went "in" on the motor on its own. I was backing off the trailer and was adjusting the trim up b/c of where I was backing into (backing the boat is not my favorite thing to do), I trimmed the motor up some and it automatically went down. Last time I had the boat out and was loading, when moving up onto the trailer I had trimmed the motor up and it went back down on it's own. I cannot remember if I heard the trim motor running when the motor was going down or it was more of a slipping out of trim out. I thought about this after reading multiple forum discussions. I will pay attention to this next time, however I'm concerned about even taking it out if it is going to do this during loading. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

We have a Force 125 and we call this T&T leak down. I don't have a clue about your motor, but on a force 125 we change two rubber washers and it fixs the problem 90% of the time
If no oil is leaking through the ram seals, don't touch them the problem is the motor leaking, is there a rebuild kit for your T&T? Does I boats have a kit l

Thanks for the help

I came out and look for leaks.....none. Checked fluid, good. Tested T&T, goes up and down. No leak down, of course I'm not in the water either. I will leave for the night and see where it is in the morning.

Sounds like the hydraulic pump needs to be rebuilt. Having a load on the outdrive, in the water or traveling down the road, puts tremendous pressure on the outdrive. Try trimming up the motor while idling then put in gear, if it goes down you either have air in the hydros, not common, or all the seals need to be replaced.

"Fishing in the driveway" sounds about right. It's idling then I put it in gear to back up or load and it trims in. Will check into that a little further. My brother said the best days of owning a boat are "the day you buy it and the day you sell it". Argh !
