My 2006 4.3 efi thunderbolt v system started cutting out at 2000 rpms and backfiring. I cleaned the carb and checked the timing but it stills does it. What should I check next? It starts great, idles great, and runs up to 2000 rpm fine
cross-firing, cracks in the dist cap. if the flat crab cap there have been reported issues with that style cap, cracked intake valve springs,intake valves not seating,

Starving for fuel??????? Revs up not under load????????? Do what BT suggest but at night. If she is leaking spark, you will see it. If not leaking, pull fuel filter and replace then pull fuel from cleaned source like aux tank that you KNOW is free of contaminated fuel. Run her!
