2006 Mercury 225HP 4 stroke Engine Software Diagnostic Tool

Cant find anything on this. IS there a software tool for the owner to use to diagnose this engine? can i use the software tool used on the 2006 Yamaha 225hp 4 stroke to diagnose the engine or are the electronics different between the 2 engines? Is my only option in troubleshooting this engine to take it to a dealer?

Rinda makes the techmate which can scan the 555 ECM/PCM for out boards. Look at the OB manual

You should get the mercury manual for your motor, and see.for yourself.
You could do a google, ebay search.Mercury search.
Or you can tell us whats wrong with your motor and we will give you some ideas and things to do before you buy the manual, or take it to the dealer.

I've already bought a factory service manual, should be here on Friday. Currently, there's nothing wrong with the engine. Im trying to be proactive and look ahead in case something will happen with the engine and i need to fix it. I like tinkering and working on engines, usually i dont take em to a dealer to fix things.
