Purchased a 2006 Chaparral in 2008 and got all maint records for the boat, marina had just done 20 hour service and boat had around 30 hours on it when I bought it. The Marina, in Portland, on Jantzen Beach charged the previous owner for a complete tune up including new plugs. After 4 years and another 50 hours I figured I would check the plugs. Pulled one out and they still had the factory red spray paint on them. So much for the marina changing the plugs, pisses me off that a shop thinks it ok to pull a stunt like this. Anyway, the plugs that came out were Delco 41-932 and they do not look like a typical platinum plug. They have a tapered electrode tip. Anyway, I got a set of the Champion cross referenced plugs and they are platinum but have a more traditional looking electrode. Any problem with running the champions? Also, anyone know what the correct gap is for this plug? I also looked at the NGK Iridiums and they had the same looking tip as the AC Delco plugs but I could not see spending 7 bucks a plug for what sounds like a hotter running plug. Plus I don't buy into the iridium hype.

Personally, I wouldn't allow anyone to even carry a champion spark plug on my boat, let alone install them in my engine. I've repaired many engines of rough running after the customer installed Champions in his boat himself.
Stick with the proper AC or NGK plugs for your engine.

OK, took the Champions back and went to Napa and picked up the factory correct AC plugs. Set gap and installed.

You did a good thing, I'm sure your engine thanks you.

One not. Be very careful changing the gap on those plugs. It doesn't take much to damage one.
