2006 yamaha 50hp running hot

good day all. i just bought a 2006 50hp Yamaha. is it normal for the water coming out of the pee hole to be too hot to touch. it's almost scalding after 5-8 min of running at even low speed & the thermostat has been removed. Additionally, the motor has a cough. every 5-7 seconds or so it seems to major miss & bog momentarily. then most times it recovers. once in a while it might stall though. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Buy and install the correct thermostat as it is an important part of your cooling system. Check/clean/replace as needed your pressure control valve which is also part of your cooling system....the cough and bogging may indicate the need to have the carbs cleaned internally.....
