2007 ETEC 115 long shaft - Pinion gear screw removal

Just wondering if there is any other technique anyone has tried other than purchasing or finding the lower drive shaft spline tool and wrench. Need to figure out how to stop lower drive shaft from spinning without damaging it when a hex socket wrench is inserted in pinion gear screw.
Just this one little screw to go and gearcase disassembly can be completed. Thanks

You have the "bat wing " unit.. a impact wrench and a rag stuffef in pinion gear usually gets it.

Thanks for this that wIl definitely be worth a try!
It seems a 5/16 hex socket bit is the right fit for that pinion gear screw head but trying to confirm.
