Bravo three shifting.......left the marina yesterday, idling out, everything fine, pulled back in neutral, let the tube rope out, then put shifter in forward small grinding sound and now just get engine rev.... Has anyone had this problem; is this common for the bravo 3; is it the shift cable or inside gears for the out drive?

Has anyone had this problem;
Yes, you are not the first, Sorry

is this common for the bravo 3;
Nope

is it the shift cable or inside gears for the out drive?
Probably not a cable, shifting is done with a shift cone setup, no gears to grind. If you had a grinding noise, then you have gear problems. Possibly even a coupler problem. Look for metal savings around the coupler area.

Where can i get a free diagram of the bravo 3 out drive?...can the bravo 3 be rebuilt by boat dealer mechanic or will it have to shipped to mercury for rebuild?

It could be a shift cable, or it could be internal problems. I would let a mechanic examine it. Did you change the outdrive oil? If so, did you follow the procedure correctly ?

Followup......shop discovered that the splines on the coupler had stripped out...... Diy info... Coupler bolts to the fly wheel and outdrive shaft slides in the coupler (coupler made of aluminum), must pull engine & outdrive to replace....

Obviously the maintenance wasn't being done properly. Things like yearly alignment checks and greasing the coupler splines or the splines wouldn't have been stripped out.
