2007 mercruiser 6.2l mpi will not rev in gear

hello I have a 2007 6.2l mpi engine that will not rev up in gear I put a fuel pressure gauge on it last night and it was at almost 100 psi at idle. Any suggestions on where I should start to diagnose this problem?

what was the fuel pressure at idle, at WOT

what RPM are you getting?

what does Rinda say when you plug in?

it was between 80-100 at idle havent tried at wot because the boat falls on its face and im not sure it will make it back to the dock and only code it had was for a water pressure sensor

If I knew what the serial number is, might be able to find the part.
The regulator is what controls the pressure, and with it being 100, then its stuck closed or the screen is clogged

You either have cool fuel Gen 2 or Gen 4
Gen 2 was used in the early days and pump is located under the port side motor mount

The Gen 4 and later cool fuel was used with Bravo drives and is on the starboard side behind the seawater pump

So I changed the regulators now the pressure starts at 40 pounds and slowly builds to around 80 and stays there no matter where the throttle is. Still revs up fine in neutral but in gear in boggs out. Could it be the cool fuel?

If you have a SW pressure sensor error...I’m almost certain you will then be in a guardian restricted mode.
Other than that, I’d suspect fuel contamination is an issue.

If you bought Merc or GM Dealer regulators and not ones from Ebay or Amazon then you have another restriction in the return. If you bought them from Ebay or Amazon, there is no telling what you bought
