Dumped the 2003 Tahoe with 156,000 miles and picked up a 2007 AWD SS Trailblazer with the 6.0 motor........Like new condition with 64,000 miles.

Dealer told me it would tow a boat with no problem.....with that motor im thinking no problem. So i was looking thru the manual last night and noticed it said.

** Trailblazer ss with the 6.0l must have the sport performance package (B4U)

looked and looked and could not find what this means in the manual...looked on the net and it comes up with bumper/exhaust info and other stuff. Very confusing of what the B4U is exactly

Anyone know what this means?

I looked up the RPO codes and it is the sports package. Looks like there are a number of B4U codes which mean different things on different vehicles.

There should be a sticker, might be in your glove compartment, of all the RPO codes for your vehicle.

Do a google search for RPO code B4U

Yes, look at the "build sticker" in the glove box. There will be many many 3 digit codes that will define axle ratio and if you have an autolocker in the rear axle among all the other options....gear ratio too.

Thanks Bruce.....Just looked in the glove box and yes has the B4U code. So i should be good!

Still cant find a diffintive answer on what the sport package entails....

Now the test......Ill get the boat outa storage early next month and see what happens.
Lake is about 75 miles away and we store it there all summer...from our lake place to the ramp is less than a mile and not a very steep ramp. We shall see....

Bob....checked on the codes...411 gear in the rear end with AWD

The pontoon is at the lake now...so ill get my son to dip it in the water..he has a 2500 chevy diesel.

The Checkmate will be no problem.......3000# at the most trailer and boat....now that it's restored and all the water loged foam is gone

Gona weigh the 21' Celebrity and see where im at weight wise. The manual say's 6500# max

your 6,0 liter and 4.11:1 gearing will out pull your sons diesel

on top of the 6.0 you can also add a magnuson super charger and your grin will go around to the back of your head.

I agree 100% An in-line 6 is a torque monster and with a gear ratio of 4.11:1.....The only problem you could possibly have is breaks and tongue weight. Based on my experiences with the Trail Blazer.... You do NOT want to attempt pulling your pontoon boat that you have. A trail Blazer does not have the vehicle weight to handle that task.

The TB has the over size front rotors.... Manual states to use the shortest hitch posible to move the weight closer to the axle.

Yea that pontoon is a big rig.......24 footer that sits on a bunk trailer. With the shorter wheel base of TB.. it's a little top heavy for my likeing.
Ill leave that up to my son to help out.

It's not an inline 6 cyl- it's a 6.0 V8. Even better :) AWD on top of that.

They are quick. I raced one one time in my truck. He hung along better than I ever imagined. He got me out of the hole but I caught back up to him pretty quick. I didnt know they were all wheel drive.

So it has go fast power. YAY!!! It still has to stop and handle the weight of what it is pulling. I have a friend who had a '84 Montey Carlo that was super charged, It also for some reason was outfitted with a tow setup. See my point?

Yep I ran one in my Trans Am. Guy tried to beat me off a light. Got me out of the hole then I came around him. They're quick especially for a truck. I don't think they're all AWD but not sure. OP- B4U is probably just the package code to differentiate it from the regular trailblazer. Means it comes with the 6.0, whatever trans, coolers, wheels/tires, trim, gears, axle, etc. Whatever is standard to the SS package.

??? That is WELL within the capacity limits! You are joking, right? I know the typical iboats response is that you need a 3/4 ton to tow a tinny, but I've towed larger/heavier pontoons with far less tow vehicle. If the driver has any common sense, he will be fine. If he doesn't, the tow vehicle doesn't matter.

(also, just because you don't know what you are talking about... That trailblazer is 4680 pounds. A 2007 chevy silverado v8 is 4448 pounds. So you are saying that even a 1/2 ton pickup is too small/light to tow a little 24ft pontoon?)

Re: 2007 SS Trailblazer Towing?

Great conversation…….
I didn’t even know GM made a truck like this, my son pointed it out to me when we were looking for another Tahoe. I really just wanted a newer body style Tahoe, but when I test drove the TB I had a big grin on my face and had to buy it.

It’s not as roomy as the Tahoe and it has the SS-1 interior package……No thrills interior with min gadgets……Kinda glad it don’t have all the bells and whistles. Heck half the extra gizmos on 2003 Tahoe either didn’t work or it worked half the time.

It does run really well…and if you were to put a chip, exhaust ect…..it would be a runner. I’m to old and don’t have the extra cash floating around to dump the money into it…….Bad enough at $4 a gallon.

One thing that I didn’t expect is you have to run premium gas and use Mobil 1 engine oil……..as stated in the owner’s manual.
