2007 sx tilt dead

Volvo pent 5.0 with sx tilt dead. This is the one with the pump on the outside of the boat. Stuck in the up position on boat lift. Can I drain fluid from the right hand Allen screw enough to lower the Outdrive and use the boat? Can’t get a mechanic until after Memorial Day​​​​​. Will the motor manually lift when the fluid drained when I go to trailer it to the shop?
