Does anyone have recommendations, pics or advice on the best place to install a transducer on the back of a tahoe fish and ski boat. It currently has one that is thurhull. I am looking to upgrade to newer technologies and am seeking advice on mounting and drilling locations.

Post a pic of the transom. I am sure you will get some good advice about where to put the transducer.

I don't know which Sonar you are looking at but the Lowrance and Humminbirds I have come with really good instructions as to how to install the transducers. I have one of each on a vinyl mounting plate on the starboard side of my Sea Nymph transom. The mounting plate allows you to mount the transducers without drilling below the waterline.

Hi,

Thanks could you send me some pics of how and where you mounted the transducer so I can have a better ideal of how it looks. Thanks for the info.

How it looks is irrelevant. Mount it according to the instructions. But generally, NOT in line with any strakes on the bottom of the hull that can cause turbulence. The transducer will not work in turbulent water. Starboard side of the drive as far from the drive as possible to avoid -- you got it -- turbulent water.

Silvertip is right on there, your hull is different from my aluminum hull and your installation will be different from mine.

Just like he says, the transducer will usually go on the starboard side as far away from the prop as possible and in a spot without turbulance if possible. The instructions for the Humminbird and the Lowrance are similar but each has it's own little tweaks and suggestions.

I don't mind sharing a picture if I can find one, but the boat is buttoned up in storage right now, so if there is not one in my phone I won't be able to put one up.

If you google the installation instructions for your unit, you can read them along with illustrations.
