So I have a 2005 5.0GL motor. It's in my 2007 Monterey 214FS. These questions I have are going to seem all over the map, I'm just working on figuring out what direction I want to take. I appreciate any insight you can share:
1. Is this the same engine as a SBC Chevy 5.0? Can I interchange parts with that motor (e.g. supercharger kits, etc)
2. would this engine upgrade easily to fuel injection (e.g. 5.0Gxi) by just changing parts or is it a different shortblock?
3. if I want to swap this to a 5.7GXI would it drop in? What about wiring to my gauges?
4. same question as above, but with a 454 carb motor?
5. if I keep this motor installed, what about a power adder (paxton centrifugal blower? weiand roots blower? nitrous oxide kit?)
I'm coming from a 2005 214FS with a mercruiser 260HP 5L motor, and I'm very concerned about the difference in power (220vs 260) and the general driveability and response of a carb motor vs. efi.
Thanks in advance for your help.
