I have the Volvo Penta 3.0 with the SX Drive and crappy designed Trim/Tilt motor-pump that is located on the stern by the lower unit. it was replaced just over a year ago. its been in the water once since then and has set on a local boat lot for sale. i recently picked up the boat and noticed that the lower half would not trim up or down. You can hear the motor engaging but no movement. i took the cover off to inspect the motor and notice it looked like a little water intrusion by the pinkish fluid build up. Upon removing the cover i pulled the hydraulic lines from it relieving pressure on the lower half. when i took the cover off not alot of fluid came out. I inspected the motor and reinstalled the cover thinking the fluid was just low. I went to my local walmart and purchased the tilt/trim hydraulic fluid (green) and topped off the unit from the fill plug. i left the plug off and attempted to trim but no movement. You can hear the motor kick on but nothing. Any other things that i can try short of spending a grand for another poor designed replacement? if the motor is bad can it be rebuilt?

Welcome.
Not a poor design Probably just not used enough.
The worst thing for a boat is not using it.
The SX came with a couple of different pumps.
Any numbers or letters on it? Post them.
Sometimes the rams get stuck.
The seals dry out and "lock" the piston and won't go up or down.
Try WD or any lube and have someone stand on it as you operate it.
Did the drive move when you released the lines?
Pink oil could be water or bubbles.
Pink is power steering fluid or t@T fluid.
