My 2008 90hp yami 2 stroke will not start. It cranks, tach comes on, low oil level horn works but there is no spark.
It has been running great but when I went to start it Sunday it cranked but would not fire. I pulled the plug wires and there is no spark on any cylinder.
I have looked for pulled wires, all the fuses are good and I tried bypassing the CDI by disconnecting the yellow wire.
Any ideas? I do not want to call the stealer I bought this from ... he burnt me once already.

is your safety lanyard connected

No ... I don't use it, never have on a boat, jet ski ...absolutely. The engine has been running fine for three years with that normally open switch disconnected.

This is a head scratch-er and I am sure it is something simple. If I could find a wiring schematic for the ignition system I could probably troubleshoot it better.

If you have the lanyard removed and the switch is closed then it should not spark

If you are saying you have modified the wiring to remove it then who knows what all you have done and we are not able to help much

I disconnected the wires off the back of the kill switch which is normally open with the lanyard installed, in other words when you push the clip in the lanyard switch it is exactly the same as disconnecting those two wires from the back. The wiring is not modified it is just disconnected. I have done this with every outboard that had one and this one has been running and starting for three years without issue.

Please take the kill switch lanyard out of the equation, it has NOTHING to do with the problem at hand.
I would greatly appreciate any input as to what is taking the spark circuit out. If I could get a schematic or if you knew the color coding for the ignition switch and harness it would help greatly.

Thank you,
Jay R
