This is my first thread so I apologize for any incompetence...

I have a "new" 2009 70hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard with oil injection that I am still breaking in on a 17' bowrider. I went through about 14 gallons of gas but the engine doesn't seem to be pulling in any oil. Thankfully the first tank was premixed and I added more oil to the gas gas tank for the new 14 gallons of gas. Is there any way to prime the engine oil? The oil tank is in the engine case, not remote.
The dealer is not open today but will call tomorrow. I was looking for some education before I called him.

I would think this boat has the remote oil tank in the hull and a tank on the motor that automatically fills from the remote tank as it is needed to keep it full.
Did you not get a owners manual with this boat and motor ?

There is no remote tank just a tank on the motor, about 3 quarts. Yes I did get the owners manual but I can't find anything stating priming. I even asked the dealer on the pickup and he said there is not priming.

In that case I would not run it anymore and take it back to them and have it fixed.
A new motor is suppose to have double oil during break in and you are not getting that if the auto injection is not working

Anyone else have a suggestion? If it could be something simple stupid that would be better than the hour and a half trip to the dealer.

stuff the area below the oil pump with rags and loosen the phillips screw on the upper end of the oil pump. Allow the oil to bubble out until all the air has gone. Snug up the screw and disconnect the oil link from the carb to the pump lever. Run the motor a bit and the pump will go to auto-rich and quickly bleed the oil lines. Hook the link back up and adjust per the service manual. Now check if the pump is working.

Thanks I will try bleeding the system tonight. I guess I need to purchase a service manual for the adjustments.
