2009 efi 25hp 4 stroke wont rev out

I just picked up a 2009 Lund Rebel 1475 with a 2009 EFI 25 hp. I picked it up at a dealer yesterday and put it in the lake to try it out. The problem was the boat wouldn't even plane out. Then the light and beeping noise started. I was only 100 yards from the landing so I put it back on the trailer. I bought this boat at R and R Marine in Shakopee Mn. Shouldn't they have checked this out before selling me the boat. What is the problem? I am taking it back to get it checked out tomorrow.

When I put the ear muffs on it with the hose it starts and runs fine. There is water coming out of the motor so I don't think its overheating. The oil level is good with new oil in it.

Anyone else have these issues?

Take it into a dealer and let them run the diagnostic software on it....Your engine is under warranty.

I did look at the manual and thats why Im going back to the dealer. Just hope its not a sign of bad things to come. I was going to buy a boat with a yamaha and don't want to regret it.

The only bad one out of the box that I have ever seen was literally the first one of that model that we sold. It test ran fine at delivery, but under a load it lost power....Turned out to be some metal shavings in the fuel pump. Haven't had another one with a problem in over 4 years. Like every outboard there is always the oddball problem, but nothing that you could describe as problem common to the model.
