200HP Yammie....did you buy it yet? Everyone I know that has a Yammie of any power rating seems to love them.

As for the radio...take it as is. If you don't like it this is probably one of the easiest upgrades to do at a later date. There are tons of options out there.

Tan gets warm/hot in the direct sun so just be aware of that and pack a towel or something to sit on lest you burn something you don't necessarily wanna burn if you get my drift...

thanks sooooo much for all of ya'lls help with my boat buying situation! I am very thankful this forum exists. The green option never got back to me when I asked for a lake trial... crickets.... but as I said before my husband could not get around the green.... so I think we are leaning towards heading to south carolina and getting the beautiful light blue one... 200 hp, I feel so much better about that part. Being stuck home all this time with Covid mess we are ready for a road trip anyway! I know Texas Marine sells yamaha but not hurricanes... as we almost bought a boat from them with yamaha, so I think I am good there.. whats all this talk about dealer wont service or you will have harder time getting serviced if you don't buy the boat from them? the hurricane dealer in town said make sure whoever you buy it from will give you access to service!!??

see pics below....

In my experience, I rarely use the radio and would not spend any money on upgrades to a sound system. When I am on the water it's the sound of the water I'm looking for, When the boat is under power you can't hear the music unless it's blasting and you don't want to be that boater. My only advice apart from the boat and only you can pick that one is to get as much horse power as you can afford and the boat will take. I have been out on the water, a storm blows in and have to make a run for it.

You will never wish you had less horse power.

I agree! I am not worried about the radio.. I am very happy I am making this decision to get the bigger engine.. and I think for this boat I am getting good deal.. thanks sooo much!

Actually if you are going to be out in the sun when it's over 75 to 80 degrees you will want those white seats. I have had light grey, light blue, and tan. They all get to hot to touch in the sun. They also show the dirt just as bad. I have main white now and love it. Don't end up cleaning it much more then I had to clean the other colors.

I think the white would have been fine... cooler for sure.. it was the green my husband could not get over!!! It is a nice boat... but I think we are leaning to the 2020 light blue with tan and 200 hp yam. thanks so much for your advice.. this has been exhausting.

Sad story. If you need warranty work and take it to a local dealer, you'll be last on the list. Maybe wait months. If you PAY for the work, much easier.

If you lived in California and recently moved to Maine, maybe the dealer will be more sympathetic.

Its all about the dealer. Some are nice guys, others are *****.

Not like a car. Take a warranty problem to any Chevy dealer and you'll get service.

Wow, that is horrible... believe me if they had the boat I wanted it would be so much easier.. I even asked him if we could upgrade to 200 hp and he told me I would have to order a boat! so crazy.... Other than the engine the other thing on this other boat is the windshield... I think we could have lived without it, its a nice to have for me.. but the engine hp was my issue.

I'm real picky. I built my first boat in Grandpa's garage and all the rest were factory ordered. I don't want stuff I don't want, and I don't want to do without stuff I DO want. But that's just me.

Most manufacturers have a schedule that they build certain models in certain months. Thus, the wait time may be small or large. Put down a good deposit and the dealer gets the boat with no mortgage on his part. My experience has been the only better price is if they have one sitting around a long time and need to get rid of it because their bank payments are due.

My last boat had a small warranty issue that needed repair. I wasn't going to drive twice half way across the state to get it repaired, so I took it to the local guy and didn't say warranty, just paid for it. It was done in 2 days and it was a cost savings, considering the auto mileage and Highway tolls that I didn't have to pay.

Thats awesome you have ordered your boats etc... that sounds great. We usually try find best deal and its what we want but there are usually trade offs! I will just have to deal with not having a local dealer because with Covid all orders are way behind summer would be over before we got our boat! If things are that expensive to fix I agree just pay and go!

Here's what I've run into in the past and it only took a phone call to straighten out...

My FourWinns was taking on water during the day and the selling marina couldn't figure it out. Told me it was normal which is complete and utter BS. So I took it to my regular marina who happened to service Volvo and had them fix it - loose bellows. They wanted to charge me as it wasn't purchased there. I told them to hold while I called Volvo, which I did, and was told send the bill to them. End of story.

Now...if it had been something with the boat itself, as opposed to the motor, I would have gone to FourWinns.

Point is...most of what's probably going to break on the boat or need attention is the engine. As long as there's a Yamaha dealer close by I do not see an issue there. If its boat related, just get on the horn to Hurricane and I'm sure they can persuade the marina you're working at to submit the bill as warranty work.

This would be the least of my worries in buying a boat. Then again I'm in WNY where I have LOTS of marinas around.

That's why you have a warranty. Don't be afraid to use it....or speak up for yourself.

Another update.... so the dealer that would not switch out the engine from 150 to 200 didn't have the boat we really wanted and they were going to get it from another location about 1 hr away.... but they told me they wouldnt upgrade the engine... I thought that must be a Ron Hoover policy or something... but after all of this fretting about going all the way to south carolina to get a boat that didn't have the fishing package on it that we wanted.. trying figure out what it would take to add the chair, wire for trolling etc.. I thought maybe I should call the other location where the boat actually is and explain the situation and see what happens... oh my goodness.. they were like no big deal, we can change the engine out no problem... have in stock etc. My deposit was even still on that boat!!! So, the thing this boat doesn't have is a full windshield. I know we will want one at times, but we do plan on using mostly in summer so given the circumstances we plan to do the sea trial on that boat at that dealer who knows what they are doing. The saga continues but I feel like we may be on the right track... I feel so stupid for not calling them right away... I am usually smarter than that...

On some manufacturers boats, a full windshield is 1-2k additional. Since this is a current production boat, and the marina is working with you, you might see what they'd be willing to do to add a full windshield contingent on you purchasing the boat.

Never hurts to ask.
