200hp merc head gasket

I replaced it just so it would not fail, now i have a problem with it not sealing, on the muff drop of water comes out, I took the heads off added silicon sealant, (did not do it berfore)<br />so i took the boat out today and with no covers on, saw it spraying water at around 5500rpms.<br />any advice on how to seal this thing up...<br /><br />i did not use a torque wrench or the right sequence, could that been a problem...

No doubt this could be your problem! It needs to be done right. Get a manual and new gaskets, make sure you get all of the old one off. These gaskets are made to put on dry and should have no problems as long as you torque and tighten at the correct sequence. Good luck and let us know.<br />CU

You may also want to check that the heads are not warped using a strait edge. By all means get a book on this Mercury has some very specific head tightening sequences and procedures. Best book is one from Mercury check their web site. Doing these type repairs without the manual are asking for trouble.<br /><br />Rfish :p :p :p

still leaking after i put in gasket and troque to specs,<br /><br />everything looked good, but still leaks 10 seconds after startup...any suggestion

i think i found the problem, NO WASHERS !!! the bolt was getting tight on the block and not tight on the heads, i guess it was changed before and the washers were left out, so i put some washers on and i think the problem is sloved.
