200hp Yamaha Saltwater Series

I have a 1997 motor that just had a new powerhead, new coil, and rebuilt carberators put on. The oil injector was taken out. I just ran it for a test drive (after mixing the oil and gas). It ran fine for about 15 minutes and then it dropped power from 4800rpms - 4400rpms. Severe loss in torque - took close to a minute to plane - ran like it was missing. Does anyone have any ideas of what can be wrong now???

not knowing who did the rebuild I would say test compression and spark first. why was the oil injection removed ?

We were told that the engine is 8 years old and that if the oil injector was to go, it could cause problems and possibly burn up the engine. So we were advised to eliminate the injector and mix the fuel and oil ourselves. ??? My son said the compression is good and he replaced the spark plugs yesterday. He also changed the oil filter. He said it is running OK now. (I wonder for how long?)
