I recently purchased a 2011 15hp HO Evinrude to replace my 1984 9.9 Johnson from a private owner. Pictures 1 & 2 are of a 4 pin connector on the ignition switch end of the remote wiring harness. Can anyone tell me what it is supposed to connect to or if it's not needed to run this outboard? So far I haven't been able to find out what it goes to. My closest guess so far is the system check gauge, but so far all that I've found are 8 pin connectors.
Secondly, the previous owner also cut two wires off because they were crimped together wire other wires under his dash. The wire colors are purple with a white stripe (or blue with white stripe), and a solid black wire. My first thought was wires for trim/tilt gauge, but the information I've so far says there should be a purple, black, and tan with white stripe, which I don't have three wires to make this be the case. Any information from anyone who has experience with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any help.
