I have a 2011 Tahoe Q5i with a 4.3 MPI MerCruiser and I am trying to find the year and also if it is a GM or Ford engine. I have bought the boat used and can not find this on the internet.
Engine Serial Number 1A627163

If anyone could tell me how to figure this out, I would be greatful

:welcome:

GM engine. Ford has not supplied engines to Merc or Volvo-Penta in a long time. Distributor at the rear of the engine is a GM telltale.

Of course knowing that may not do much for you.

Might have a digit off somewhere, but when I use it on the Merc site it brings up 3 different serial sets and latest is
1A030368 thru 1A030369

Being only a 1 digit serial range my guess is this is a place holder until all the info is entered into the database

Maybe muc can help

4.3mpi is a GM engine... It's a 262 V6. That serial number is in the 2011 grouping. Merc have been using GM only for their petrol engines since 1978. Prior to that Ford and Renault were also used.

ENG: 1A627163 424106LUU MERCRUISER 4.3L ALPHA MPI

Date of manufacturer 09/15/2010

GM engine block

It has never been registered. I highly recommend that you get a MerCruiser dealer to get this registered into your name. Then you will be able to find out if there are any open recalls and get alerted to any future recalls.
