2012 3.0 Mercruiser how to check and set timing

I have a 2012 Bayliner with 3.0 Tks mercruiser , it runs fine in every way but it diesels when I shut it off , I would like to check the timing and see if it could be off a little bit, what steps are involved checking the timing?

Serial Numbers are always best to start with, if your serial number is above 0L341xxx
Then timing is 2 ATDC

Should have EST distributor

The timing mark on the crank pulley can be difficult to see. It's just a little notch, you'd be wise to put a dab of orange or white paint on it.
