I have a 2012 Glastron GT 205 with the 4.3 TKS motor, mercruiser alpha one out drive. Yesterday when I got home and I was flushing my motor, I realized that the temperature gauge is not working.

I think I remember seeing it work while on the water.

I did run aground yesterday while in some shallow water (very slow speed, not even making a wake) When I ran aground, the trim was already halfway up. when I realized I bottomed out, I trimmed up more and throttled out.

I'm immediately thinking that it's my temperature sending unit, If someone could point me in the right direction that would be helpful. where is the temperature sending unit located?

Hi there, welcome to iboats!:)

The sending unit for the temp gauge is located on the starboard side of the thermostat housing with a single wire....The sensor on the port side with 2 wires yellow and black would be for the overheat warning horn system.

Item number 3 is the gauge sender, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/s...1493/12833/170

Since you picked up some rock debris, there is a good chance that the thermostat is being held open by rocks, sand, etc. not allowing the engine temp to climb upwards fast enough to give you an indication of the gauge is not working correctly.....Pretty common so you may want to try disassembling the thermostat housing and have a look around inside.

Thanks! got in the engine bay last night and removed the thermostat housing so I can visit one of the local marinas to match up a new thermostat and sending unit.
