Hello,
I have tried to browse the forums on this question, but I am unable to determine if I need to do anything with my power steering cooler. I understand and know about my 5 drain locations and I plan on putting in anti-freeze after the drain but I cant tell if my generation power steering is self draining?

Assuming it is on top and at the rear of the motor, then yes it will self drain out both sides

Are you planning on removing the drive for service? Then simply remove the inlet hose at the therm housing and set shop vac to "blow" and blow the line clear.
In some cases ,draining the cool fuel unit drains the ps cooler at the same time.

If it's lower port side then just pull a hose off. Otherwise the other two responses work also

Don’t think the TKS has cool fuel.
It should drain itself with all plugs out.

It will not drain by just draining the engine block and manifolds. You MUST remove the drive for it to drain...

You guys are reaching for the deep end and its not deep down there.
He did not list the S/N but it would not have cool fuel (TKS and being 2012) and PS cooler should be on the back of the motor (should be a 1A or lower S/N)

Thanks Everyone
And sorry, it is a 1A series, #1A634623. I don’t see anything in the owners manual referencing the PS cooler, so no need to do anything with it? The drive will not be coming off this fall. It was serviced last year with new impeller and gimbal inspection.

You don’t need to take the drive off at all. Not sure if wires are getting crossed here.

If you have power steering, then you'll have a cooler... If you don't have power steering, where the cooler would go will be just a straight length of pipe. Either way, if you don't remove the drive, the hoses (and cooler/pipe) I have highlighted in pink will remain full of water, as will all the passages in the drive above the water pump.

If you don't remove the drive, then you need to remove the hoses at the points I gave green circled and drain from there...
