Hi All

I am a first time boat buyer and am a newbie to the whole boating thing - and purchased a 2012 Tahoe Q4 with 130 hp 4 cylinder fuel injected Merc-Cruiser (that was the only one I could afford) and have a 19 pitch prop that came standard on the boat - took it out for the maiden voyage with 2 other guys on fishing trip. We live in Colorado and we were at 8900 ft in elevation at the lake and I could barely get the boat on plane. I had to have both guys sit up on the bow in order to get the boat to plane at all. I purchased the boat to fish and pull my two young kids on a blow-up tube sled. Did I get a boat with too small a motor? Do I need a new prop? and I am planning on being about 5000-6000 ft in altitude on the lakes to pull my kids - any suggestions from those who know what the heck they are doing? I am new to this so I am all ears and any suggestions please let me know. Thanks - I love reading this forum now.

Re: 2012 Tahoe Q4 - Prop questions

ESSENTIAL DATA REQUIRED
When posting a question about propellers, you cannot get a reasonable answer unless you provide the following information in your post: Items 1-4 are essential for meaningful response to most questions.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum.
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight

That being said, the elevation is killin' HP. You should probably be running a 17p prop, but you should post the info requested first.
