Engine has ~35hrs and noticed a couple of things on outing this past weekend. First, while cold it wouldn't idle below about 950RPM. It normally sits at 650RPM. It finally idled down after about 10 minutes of cruising around and a few stop/starts. While listening to/trying to figure out why it wouldn't idle down we noticed these noises at low RPMs:

1100 RPM - https://youtu.be/voCWksuB8co
Idling - https://youtu.be/5CowwyeSxMs

Especially at 1100 you can hear a ticking/knocking, sounds like valve train to me. I broke this engine in per the manual, had dealer perform first service, and have NOT been hard on this engine. Needless to say I'm worried about having a dealer tear into it but I don't think I have a choice. I've spoken to my dealer, let them listen to these videos and they agree it needs to be checked out.

Any recommendations on service center to take it to in central Texas? Boat is near New Braunfels, TX so I can take it to Austin/San Antonio/Houston. I can def take it back to selling dealer (which is a larger dealer in the Houston area). Are all volvo service centers created equal?

FYI engine is installed in a 2014 Chaparral 264 Sunesta.

your boat is under warranty, I suggest you take advantage of that and take it to a volvo tech. your dealer should be a certified volvo tech center.

Thanks! Definitely using the warranty, just hope if I take it to selling dealer they are qualified to do the job right. I'll post findings once I know something from the dealer.

This engine being a GM L92 (iron block LS3), it's so tempting to drop off some heads and a new cam for them to install while they're digging into it...easy 100+hp

Actually, the Volvo Penta 380 is an L96 6.0l engine, not an L92. I have 170 hrs on my 2013 with no issues. If your dealer is selling VP then they should be certified to work on them. This engine package is new for VP so I would suspect that very few shops have worked on them.

It almost sounds like something driven by the serpentine drive belt making the noise....make them check that (tensioner bearing water pump bearing impeller bearing) before they tear into anything mechanical

You nailed it...was just the idler pulley, nothing major and was fixed quickly. The high idle issue was my Perfect Pass goofing up...they fixed that too.

Thx for all the input and sorry for not updating sooner.
