2016 Volvo 200HP - rough run / now won't start

I just bout a property from and elderly couple. that came with a 2016 Sting Ray Boat. it had sit for 3 years without being started . was put in the garage from the day they bought it . We took it to the dealer to be checked out . They advised to pump out the 3/4 tank of gas. and use the break oin since the volvo 200hp inboard only had 1.7 hrs on it we put in in the water last weekend after refueling . It was running rough and spitting and sputtering within minutes after starting . ther was a wierd squeal and surge then wouldnt restart . Any Help ? What could wrong ?

Welcome aboard Cregg : I moved you into the Volvo forum.

Not really enough information to help you out, yet. Did the dealer change the gear lube, replace the impeller, do an oil change? Anything like that? When you try to start it, does it crank? Or just sit? Any puffs of smoke?

There's a lot of possibilities here.

did you clean the 3 year old sludge from the fuel tank? what was in there quit being fuel in Spring of 2017.

We took it to the dealership and marina where it was purchased new . The pumped the old fuel out and actually cranked it for a few seconds the tech said it should be fine . But it didnt work when we put it in the water. it spit ,sputtered, backfired and a strange squeal noise was coming from the side of the engine. surging when screeching. We are taking it back to the dealer in Alabama.
