Preparing to perform service on my motor. Purchased factory manual and will study the sections on these areas.

Was thinking of building a stand for lower end so I can work on it on my workbench.

Note: I purchased all factory OEM parts, including oils.

Questions:

1. Any tips/advice on these services.., dos, donts, etc?

2. Any special tools needed?

3. Is lower end oil removed before/after water impeller service? Does it matter?

4. Should engine and lower end be run a few minutes before draining…to warm up and allow oils to drain more thoroughly?

Thanks!

Not much to the water pump impeller job….no special tools….a couple of 2x4 studs side by side, screwed into top of work bench, enough space between them to accommodate lower unit works great….the lower unit oil is seperate from water pump job…do it whenever you wish. Take your time and grease new impeller to allow easy installation with impeller blade turned in right direction….google has several helpful video/instructions on water pump services….check them out and good luck!
