New and Notes
  • Uncontrolled tire penalties have been an issue lately with lack of consistent calls of what they called arms length. Nascar has redefined the rule with this picture. We'll see how it works starting this weekend. loosetires.png
  • Related to the new uncontrolled tire rule, on a 4 tire stop, now the outside tires must be changed first. This begins at Watkins Glen next week. I can count on one hand the times I've seen inside tires first, but they say it's for safety.
  • How hot was New Hampshire? Well, Matt DiBenedetto weighed 207.8 pounds before the race and 198 after. 10 pounds of sweat making for one soggy set of driving duds. I bet his shoes squished walking through the garage after the race.
  • TV ratings for New Hampshire was 1.7, up from 1.6 last year. 2017 got a 1.8.

Iboats Fantasy Live
  • Playing his cards right for the Foxwoods Casino 301, Da Rowdy Gambler went all in and took the pot at the final table. He gets a :first: for his win. Congrats on your 1st win this year, DRG.
  • On the overall leaderboard, FlaCowboy lost almost everything he gained last week as he closed in on justkiddin 5. JK5's 3 point after last week went up to 20 points after New Hampshire.
  • Cup qualifying is Saturday afternoon after the Truck race. Pole locks at 4:00 EST.
  • Saturday's qualifying is provisional pending inspection Sunday morning since this is an impound race.

Good luck and good racing,

Humpty.

Oh boy - Larson mangled his car during 1st practice. A few minutes later, Elliott smashed his. Looks like both are moving to backups. LaJoie hit the wall too, but no idea how bad his car is.

About 5 minutes left and 2nd practice starts at 11:05.

2nd and final practice leaders - Jones Busch1 DiBenedetto Byron TWT. Wallace changed engines between practices and didn't make any laps in 2nd practice. He is starting at the rear with Elliott and Larson.

You have until 4 PM to pick your provisional pole sitter. Cars are impounded after qualifying and the official Q-Results won't be until pre-inspection wraps up about 1:15 tomorrow.

:watermelon: Man won the Truck race at Pocono for his 3rd win of the season. Pending post-race inspection, of course. He was DQ'ed once this season for having a low truck at Iowa.

Next up is Cup qualifying at 4:05, pole locks at 4. Then the X-Race coming at 5 from Iowa.

Briscoe avoided the sweeper and other safety equipment to win at Iowa. Bell led all but 15 laps, but Briscoe had fresher tires at the end.

Out of 38 cars attempting qualifying yesterday, 9 failed. Their times are dumped and will start at the rear. Pending re-inspection will flag any other penalties.

The failing 9 are - #3-Dillon, #12-Blaney, #15-Chastain, #24-Byron, #27-Sorenson, #32-LaJoie, #34-McDowell, #37-Buescher, and #48-Johnson.

iFL roster locks at 3:13, so plenty of time re-do your picks if needed.

Field is now set and Jayski has the list - https://t.co/YmITtxn7Ax

With all the inspection theatrics, almost forgot that Larson (backup), Elliott (backup) and Wallace (engine) are also going to the rear. They will be starting ahead of the flunkers.

Pole sitter Harvick leads 1st lap.

This must be the widest track in Nascar. 5 wide during the 1st lap.

Keso scrapes the wall and gets a tire rub. No yellow, but Keso pits and loses a bunch.

Harvick led all laps and has 1.5 secs. over Joey.
