A Labor Day tradition - Racing at the Lady In Black on a Track Too Tough To Tame. Cup and X-Men will be driving cars looking kind of like older paint schemes. Some work and some don't, but it's the thing to do these days at Darlington.

There maybe a third race this weekend, but it's too early to tell. Hurricane Dorian is coming and rain bands could affect racing and maybe not. Hoping the storm fizzles, but it doesn't look like it will. Please heed the warnings if you are in the path of this storm.

Trucks are back on the track at Las Vegas. From MRN, the weekend schedule;

Ooops - Wrote the wrong Busch led the 1st practice. Not TWT, but Big Bro.

Final Cup practice results - Stenhouse, Larson, Byron, Big Bro (verified), DiBenedetto, Keso, Truex, Hamlin, Joey and Bowman are the 10 fastest.

Almirola got bad Darlington Stripe and will start his backup at the rear on Sunday. Stenhouse and Larson had left fronts go down, but no harm.

Inspection is before qualifying tomorrow and cars are impounded. So qualifying results will be official. iFL pole locks at 2 PM tomorrow.

Truex and Harvick earned Darlingtin Stripes in practice today. Truex stripe was little more than a scratch that will buff out. Harvick was more severe and the crew is fixing it.

Blaney has the Xfinity pole for today's X-Race. Dale Jr. is starting 14th.

Matt D had two Cup inspection failures, passed on 3rd try and lost his car chief. He will start where he qualifies.

You have until 2 o'clock to pick your pole winner.

Darlington Cup pole goes to Byron with Keso, Larson, Big Bro, Suarez, Johnson, Joey, Elliott, Hamiln and Blaney rounding out the top 10.

TWT says he had engine or transmission trouble during his run and is way down in 33rd. If the motor or tranny is changed, he will start at the back. Impound really complicates things as far as what the team can do.

X-Men go off a little after 4PM on NBC.

BuschWhacker Hamlin wins the X-race.

Ooooops, never mind. Hamlin was DQ'ed because the #18 was too low in the let front and too high in the right rear.

Cole Custer got his 6th X-Win cuz his car was legal. Junior finished in 5th place. Not bad for a rusty retired driver. :D.

Make your iFL roster picks by 5:55PM, the race starts at 6 on NBCSN. And TWT is changing the motor, so he starts at the back tomorrow.

I am getting so tired of Nascar and their, to high to low game, there is no way on a 12 to 14 second pit stop they can adjust the car so much that it is out of spec from what the inspection said it was when it passed pre race inspection. Now with Nascar refusing ad's from gun companies in their publications, I am really ready to jump ship and a lot of other people are as well.

I just dug a picture out that my Dad took in 1967 of my Mom and I watching the local races on TV, then I remember the first Daytona 500 that was broadcast, my Dad set up an 8mm movie camera in front of the TV on Sundays and sent those films to me while I was over seas and then I started getting VHS tapes. My Mother did not watch another Nascar race after Dale Sr. died, and then she died in August of the next year.

I just hate to see where things are going.

Honestly, I am looking forward to the Indycar race in Portland, that is the same area I grew up in and I got to meet a lot of the old time race car drivers.

Racing is a hard business and they should not be making it easy, Denny drove a hell of a race today and I don't believe that the Bible Boy would cheat to win a race..

MT they lost me when they went to the chase .Im an f1 fan now followed by indy then paint drying. Each to their own though.Even my cable provider is not very interested in nascar anymore.Sometimes new is not better.P.S I was a huge fan from the late 60,s till the chase ruined it.

I get survey after every race cuz somehow I ended up in the fan council andI comment on two things - the chase and stage junk. If I wanted to see heat racing, I would go to Dixie Speedway on Saturday night. I have and it's consistently better racing. But a little dirty from the dust. :D

I know most fans don't like the chase or stages, but Nascar insists we love it. Balderdash!

I am furious over NASCAR’s stance on guns ... the sport born out of liquor running doesn’t want a gun ad, Seriously? I don’t mind the stages, but I am not a fan of the Chase. This may be my last year of support unless they change some things ....

The NRA was a co-sponsor with BPS at Bristol.

Gander Outdoors sponsors the Truck series.

BPS/Cabella sponsor Truex.

Henry Repeating Arms sponsors Cole Custer.

BPS/Cabella/Henry sell firearms. NRA promotes firearms.

So what is Nascars stance after rejecting 2 print ads for a certain type of firearm?

The above is less important than setting your iFL roster by 5:55PM. It's a holiday weekend and FlaCowboy has the grill fired up for rib bones with BBQ sauce on the side, soon to be dumped on the track like James Bond's Aston Martin spewing oil against the bad buys. :D

Hmmm, the old argument, I support the 2nd amendment........................But!

The 2nd amendment stuff is just icing on the cake as far as how Nascar has progressed to the current days.

My biggest problem with them is the way they are DQing cars these days, AJ has been hit twice, now Denny and they Got Chastain a few weeks ago and it has happened in Xfinity, Trucks, but not in Cup yet, people were saying last night that if it had happened to JR. It would not have been a DQ.

I still maintain, that it is not possible to change the set up enough to affect a car to a non-compliant condition if it passed pre race. Pit stops are to short, but I can see where banging into walls could do it.

I think all but The Dinger's DQ at Daytona have been for high or low ride heights. If car can be adjusted to the point a car is too low or high, Nascar has to do something to limit the amount of track bar adjustment or like in Cup, eliminate ride height as a post-race check completely.

Daytona was a Vacuum issue in the motor, that they still have not explained.

The Dinger's motor sucked! LOL They all suck. They never explained that one. When they got Austin Dillon for the alternator, it was explained. But a motor making vacuum, they all do.
