Hi Maybe someone out there has had this ame problem , but when I open up the trottle ( NOT ALWAYS) the engine seems to hesitate or buck and sometimes stops, but starts right back up. Could this be a Trim Problem, If so could the fluid be low in it and where do you check this on the Merc Aphla One? Where would you add it also??
Next Question is on the top of the engine in front there is a Plastic Canister Straped ( GEAR OIL) in with a Black Rubber Bungee cord. The level is showing a 1/4 of Inched below the ADD Line, Does this need to be topped off and if so with what kind of oil goes in this??
Thanks for any help

Also please note on 1st question It does NOT Hesitate 20-10 miles /hrs or slower

Well found out thru a Boat Mechanic it was the fuel pump and Vaccum line To Be replace for all you that may have the same problem

For those of you who have read this, I have taken it to a boat repair shop and after many hours of them putting it in and out of the water the problem here was and electrical issue, YES and you would not believe what had to be done to fix it, On the Chap 205 Merc behine the engine there is a elect plug that has to be plugged in to the engine block, Not sure what they call it exactly but to get at it the whole back portion of the transom engine had to be remove to reach this plug. Now remember I just bought this boat used with 109 hours on it. The dealer is who found this problem after many checks and rechecks. They guy who sold the boat to me was a private seller who sold it thru this marina that sold it to me. The mechanic knows for sure that this plug by the looks of it was NEVER WAS PLUGGED IN thus this problem has been ongoing since it was NEW in 2002, The previous owner only ran the boat at 2000 rpms for the hesitating does not occur until you hit 2500 to 3000 rpms. He must have known this and just used it for pleasure crusing at 20 to 30 miles /hr just so it would not hesitate which I could have done also, but I wanted the speed and took it to the limit. By doing this we where able to notice it did have a big problem at 3000 rpms stahling all the time. Even the mechanic had to take it out 6 times before he found this problem by dropping the whole back portion of the engine. It NOW Screams , Guess the guy who got rid of it was probably wanting something faster and did not want to spend the time or money to have it fixed when it was a FACTORY ERROR that was the cause all along. I hope you Chap Mechanic's out there take a note of this and if anyone of you have or had this problem before, the factory should know about it. I love Chap's but this took me down a notch or two. Waiting for all you people to talk up about this, for its know that the Chap is a pride and Joy to own.
Waiting for your answers and see if others have had the same problem, or that mechanic's for the Chap know about this ??????

What year is the engine? (Not the boat, the engine...) Would you be referring to a ground wire that goes on the distributor body?
