The boat is a 1989 and the motor is a 1994 J150 looper so I was wondering if this sounds right. I was trolling at 7 knots and the motor was turning up 2,400 rpms with a full tank of gas (60 gals) 3 adults on board, trim tabs full down. Should this be lower or is this right?

Very hard to say, lots of variables there ie; wind, current. Sounds like the motor was working a little hard for the 7 knots but, then again, you had a good load on her.
If I may ask, what were you fishing for that required 7 knots? (salt water?)

I fish in salt water yes and I was fishing for Wahoo and barracuda. The prop is a 14.8 I think X 17 and actually it was only 50 gals of fuel. Where I was fishing was just outside the reef and just riding the drop off. that day it was a East North East wind 5-10 knots with wave heights of 1-3 feet and I was going against the wind.
