need some help on my Evinrude, I have a 91' Evinrude 20Hp tiller and I had some issues with it for the last little bit so I rebuilt the fuel pump thinking that was the issue, I took it out yesterday and still had the issue it would idle fine and putt around but as soon as I throttled up it would bog and stall. kind of like when choke is on( it wasn't), I even played with the choke to see if it was stuck at all but didn't seem to help much maybe a little higher rpm when I pulled it out a little but then bog and stall. Its all primed and staying primed so I'm stuck and confused on this issue any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Open low speed mixture screw 1/4 turn at a time and test run.
Honestly don’t want to mess too much with the carb, the motor ran fine last year and ever since I moved the tank to the front of the boat and changed the fuel line this issue has rose up so I’m lost(maybe I should move everything back to where it was). I believe if it ran fine last year I shouldn’t have to adjust the carburetor

Not necessarily scared, but why over the winter when the motor sat inside a garage would the carb mixture change? If it ran fine last year and now it’s not , I’m not trying to get defensive just curious why it would change all of a sudden

fuel dries and clogs fine passages, needle points and precisely measured fuel jets
not to many options has suggested...

you fiddle with them , you clean them or ....have them cleaned by the shop man $$$

sometimes....if you are lucky just running the engine even poorly will suddenly wash out dried films and run like a champ. ...if you are lucky.

think I'm going to fire it up tonight in the barrel and see if I can get it to bog doesn't seem to bog when on land but if it does ill spray some fuel in the carb and see if it helps it then ill know if I have an issue somewhere in my carb or before, but everything before carb has been checked/ replaced. hopefully ill find it

no need to spray fuel in the carb it won't help because it does not circulate fuel via the small passages inside the carb. all that does is feed gas to the inlet reeds and crankcase.

if it bogs down at high throttle the HS circuit in the carb is not delivering the amount of fuel the motor needs.

when you increase speed the idle cct stops feeding fuel and the HS cct takes over but in your case the HS section of the carb is not delivering fuel
so it dies

at least run a can of EV engine cleaner maybe....thing can clear up.

ok kind of getting what your saying ya it idles and starts and runs fine but as soon as i go to idle/throttle up to power up it bogs and stalls...

Evinrude Engine cleaner ....

yea ok that’s what I thought, ran it last night in a barrel could not get it to stall or bog only in the lake. Probably going to put fresh gas and some engine/carb cleaner in the fuel and let it run for an hour. Kind of frustrating only happens in water

energy to push a boat and owner against water by turning a prop requires a lot more energy than barrel cruising . Energy comes from fuel combustion and anything depriving the process will...stall the engine.

clean the carb !
