I just got a boat, and took it out for the first time a while back. The previous ownder must have done a lot of tubing, he had a 19p prop. I was doing 45-46 mph at nearly 5000 rpm:eek:

Didn't let it go for very long, but it sounds like a need a 21p.... wouldn't you say? I bet i can hit 50mph with a 21p

BTW what does everyone think of solas?

I just switched to a solas prop and is loving it so far. Their stuff seems to be good price for the money.

Re: 21 pitch?

depending on the rake and cupping on the 19 you may not need to go 21.

i had a yrs ago with a 19 and 21 prop from the same manufacture...for all intent purposses they were alike except for pitch

the 19 came out of the whole better than the 21
the 21 more top speed but came out of the hole like garbage

i tried a heavily cupped 19 and it performed in all situations better than either of my origionals.
better whole shot than the 19 i had becase of less slipping and had the top speed of the 21...all awhile keeping my wot correct!

props are 100 percent trial and error. make sure what ever you get that you have a trial period. dont be afraid to think out of the box too. untill you try it, its all speculation

I don't see cupping on the prop selection? What props have aggressive cupping? Sounds like a 19p aggressively cupped prop is what i need. Would love to break the 50mph barrier, which, with the right prop should be feasible.

For the record:

Regal Valanti 170
4.3 Mercruiser, thunderbolt ignition (either 175hp or 190hp, not really sure)
