Recently purchased a 95 Johnson 90hp on an 18' CC. I had the motor serviced upon which they changed the spark plugs and cleaned the carbuerator. Got it out on the water, it started immediately with little smoke and ran smooth at low rpm. I throttled up to get up on plane. It planed for a few seconds and then slowed. After that point it would not get above 2000 rpm with the throttle wide open. The motor will get up to 4000 to 5000 rpm in nuetral. Any ideas on what the problem might be. Thanks.

Re: 2100 RPM Max

sounds like a cylinder is misfiring or fuel starvation...
>does squeezing the primer bulb help?
>is the prime bulb soft?
>did you check for spark on each cylinder?

If this is a starvation(lean)condition, running it too long will damage components, so troubleshooting early is important. Try engaging the choke/enrichment valve while at your 2100RPM. Any difference? Even if the carbs were done, junk can still float around through the system and plug you up.....but, check the easies first.

:)
