I am hoping you Starcraft buffs could help me out here.

I ran across this CL ad and talked to the owner today. He's an older guy so I'll try to piece together what I learned.

Here is what he has from the post and unfortunately no pictures are available.

This is a vintage 1967 classic Star Craft 22-foot aluminum express cruiser with four-cylinder 120-hp Mercruiser inboard-outboard, cuddy cabin with bunks, tons of storage, generous cockpit and trailer. The motor was last run when it was winterized in 2010; the outdrive was removed at about that time, but while it might need a new water-cooling impeller it is otherwise ready to reinstall and use. The engine is freshwater-cooled, and the boat has a galley sink, water tank, newer depth sounder, downrigger and full zippered canvas that covers the cockpit area. It is on a double-axle Dilly trailer, and there are titles for boat and trailer. We don't yet have photos of the actual boat, but the attached images show the approximate model and year Star Craft.

So he said that someone broke into his boat last week and stole the water cooler and broke the bracket off in the process. He also stated that the boat canvas has been outside for the past probably 7 years. He has owned it for 20 years. floors are the same as when he bought it. The outdrive is still off of the motor. Lastly the trailer is steel and dual-axle with 20 year old tires that all need replaced. Any thoughts or value or ideas on this boat would be great.

Thanks guys!

waterman, how much did you have to put into your Starcraft after the initial purchase if you don't mind my asking? Would $4k be a rough ballpark to lay new wood and vinyl, do a full paint job, and maybe some motor work?

You better go look at this one, Pusher. Take 4 C-notes and 5 twenties. Be stingy doling out the Benjamins, she is a project needing a lot of work.

I'm always concerned when brochure pics and pics of another boat are used to sell one.

Haha, I had to laugh at that. He's asking an additional 1500 c-notes to boot.

What? 1500 C-notes = $150,000!

Better skip it for that kind of dough! LOL

Okay, thanks guys. You've steered me away from another money pit. 😂 I'll keep looking.

Wooops, GA I meant $1,500 ($2k total). Part of the reason our boats are so expensive is our state keeps raising or minimum wage (about $12/hour now). They can't balance the budget so they raise the wages every year instead to keep the taxes coming in.
