225 4 strk flush

When I hook up my earmuffs to flush mtr I get no water out of pee hole.
When I put boat back in water it pees right away.
What could be wrong
I am afraid to run to long with earmuffs on

There have been several posts lately that the muffs were not covering the water inlet slots on either side of the motor. Obviously you are sure of the position. Also, garden hoses have a habit of kinking right at the connection to the muffs. Also, if the impeller is worn, it will have a lot better chance of picking up when submerged instead of on the muffs. I assume you did not have a problem the last time you used muffs???
And you do not want to run for any length of time without knowing the impeller is getting water or it can heat up and warp the housing...

Have tried several attemps and still no water out of pee hole.
Will pump when submerged in water

I have the same motor, and same problem, you can hook up the muffs and hook a 2nd hose up at the flush connector and it will pee. I have run just the muff and my hot alarm will go off. I'm told not to run with just muff by my dealer. And my water pump and both thermostats have been replaced.
