So here's the deal. Maybe someone can help.
I have the two warning gauge with the overheat light on one side and the low oil light on the other side. If I turn the key on the engine does the self test and both lights illuminate then go out. After starting the engine and allowing it to run for a couple minutes the low oil light comes on and the 4 beep alarm (not 3) begins to sound. It sounds 4 beeps every 2 minutes.
Intermittently I will get an alarm where both warning lights flash alternately with an audible alarm as well.
I have tested the oil sender on the engine for continuity and there is none. Just as it is supposed to. Oil level is right to the top of the tank as well. The oil injection pump does not have any wires so I don't believe there is a motion sensor.
This engine does not have a separate oil control module, just a single ECU which has been replaced. The previous ECU had continuity to ground through the oil alarm pin connection. After replacing the ECU there is no more continuity to ground through the ECU, but still the alarm.
I have heard that a TPS or temp sensor failing can make both warning gauge lights flash alternately. Any ideas on this?
Additionally, the oil tank sender and warning gauge were also replaced last year. There was an oil alarm last year as well but replacing those items corrected the problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. The serial number is OG111314. I believe the engine is a 1995 but I'm not certain.
