22LR score!!!! ........ Ammo shortage!

Sorry got to brag a little bit .......... Me and the wife where in WalMart tonight and stumbled across some 22LR winchester 555 round bulk boxes were able to get 3 each. I had almost shot up all my ammo and had not seen any for months. Now I have 3330 rounds!!!!!! Been able to get 50-100 rounds here and there for my glock 22 over past couple of months now I have about 800 rounds of .40 and enough .22 to get me through the next few months hopefully it will come back around again. anybody having any luck finding bulk .22? Feel like I won the lottery and the wife thinks im crazy I think for being so happy.

good score have about 2000 rounds for the 45 1200 for 22 500 for the 270 and 1000 for the shot guns and another 1200 .380 for practice ben using the pellet guns.

Since January I have found bulk ammo (Winchester M-22) only once and I check frequently. I do not understand there being a shortage for so long. If I was an ammo manufacturer I would be increasing production like crazy.

I haven't seen handgun ammo for a long time. They say the last handful of years have been the best years for gun/ammo manufacturers and gun shops......

Its a UN plan......let you buy the guns but limit ammo production. That way you still feel good that you have a firearm. Seriously folks, up here, north of the 49th we havnt experienced any bulk ammo shortage. Funny?

There in lies the main reason for the ammo shortage. People buying all they can in fearing they wont be able to purchase more. So instead of six people getting a box each you end up with one person having six boxes. The other 5 other out of S O Luck. So the next time they see an opportunity to buy bulk they do and the "ammo shortage" rages on.

Ammoseek and Gunbot are both showing much more ammo than in the last few months. Freedom Munitions has quite a bit of stock. I've used several thousand rounds of their 9mm in the last year with no problems. Reman or new, my SR9c eats it all.

I guess I can kind of see that side of it. Personally me and the wife shoot pretty regularly and the last couple of months have had to cut back just due to not having that much available ammo to shoot through. I have always kept a reasonable amount of ammo but had burned through a large portion of it earlier this year. Had almost no .22 left and just a couple hundred rounds of 40 at one point. I think the real problem however isnt people like me its the people who routinely stalk the local sporting goods stores and walmarts DAILY to buy everything they can get their hands on prepping for government control, end of the world and greed 1. to stockpile thousands upon thousands of rounds or 2. to buy it and corner the market and sell it on gunbroker or other places for a profit. As for the other 5 people you claim are S O luck because I bought what I did, there could have been twice as many people SOL ........ because we had just walked off from talking with our good friends who we bumped into in the store right before walking up to the ammo case. As we are getting our ammo my wife says. Do you want me to call said friend and get them to buy some more for us. I said no its not fair to buy it all up hopefully someone who really needs it will walk up and buy it. We just enjoy shooting I didnt see it as anything any different I would have done had I needed it and it was available. If you burn through one box a month and havent been able to buy it for 6 months then what I did was normal. So like I said I can kind of see your point but do not think it pertains to me as I left more there for others and only took what I needed.

I was in Walmart the other day and glanced at the ammo case and saw ammo on the top shelf ( which is where the .22LR is ) and there was a few boxes of ammo.. Ran over thinking I might have found some .22LR and it was 7.62 Nato ammunition.. I only need to buy 100 rds to keep my 525rd supply.. I had to buy most of what I got online. I was lucky to find 200 rounds of Remington golden bullet HP's at a small hole in the wall hardware.

I dont have a problem with you buying what you can, when you come across it. The people that buy to resale for profit, are more of a problem. I shoot about 2 times a month, maybe only once a month, depending on how much ammo I have. I have been able to get .40s and .223s as much as I want almost. I still dont understand why the .22lr is the way it is. I have only a revolver in .22lr so 2000 rounds lasts a long time. I also only load 20 rds in the 30cap mags for the .223, seems to keep me in check a bit more.

.22LR is the most common semi automatic rifle which can be had for pennies compared to the cost of larger capacity Semi's. Sport shooters could blow 1000 rounds in a day

I was just at Gander Mountain and they had a huge stock of 5.56 on hand, it's the most I've seen since December. They also had lots of 9mm, .40 and .45. Still no .380 or .22LR but as the other stuff shows up hopefully that means it's coming soon. What they tell me is they're getting the same amount of stock in it's just selling more quickly. Funny that I'm still waiting on my 25 round Ruger 10-22 mags from Midway, I think they're stalling as they just don't want to sell them that cheap. The Ruger store has them in stock right now.
