Re: 23 foot sea ox

They were a boat made in Arkansas, supposedly "one of the finest blue water" boats produced. I recall seeing some complaints about them on the web, but can't find them now. Maybe that's why the company went out of business, and the assets sold. Don't know who bought them. See descriptions by the sellor of the assets @ http://www.theauctionway.com/auctions/seaox.html
Jeez. They looked good, anyway.

Bogii,
Sea Ox boats are over-built if anything.Hulls are extremely durable.I beleive they use modified V hulls.Built similar to commercial standards.Very good/strong boat.

SEA CAT molds (catamarans)are now owned by Sport-Craft.com located in Fla.
Unknown if Sea Ox (deep vee hulls) was part of their buying ventures. If so, you can count of them making a fine boat.

Re: 23 foot sea ox

I'm not real familiar with the Sea-Ox line. I have heard that they are heavily built boats, but while shopping for boats myself, the two Sea-Ox 23' cc ( both 1980's?) I came accross had soft/cracked transoms. Might just be a coincindence, but maybe something to check....

The hulls made in the Carolinas were good. The Arkansas boats were junk.

I've heard they were generally hard riding and wet, but that is not first hand information.

As with any marine purchase, inspect carefully, do a sea trial and make an offer when you're sure about the condition. If not a project boat, get a survey done if any doubts about condition.
