Hello all,
Much appreciation and respect for this site being what it is. People have helped me tremendously here. Long time reader and first time poster.
Ive got a volvo penta 230a that had some bad valves. (common exhaust valve corrosion from manifold). Head was taken to machine shop and all is well and ready for replacement. I have an after-market manual that gives torque values in 3 stages for head bolts.
1) 15ft-lbs
2) 29ft-lbs
3) 90 degree turn
Seems straight forward, but it calls for a re-torque after warm up and cool down cycle.
Question is: What would the final re-torque value be if the previous final was a protractor angle? Certainly not another 90degrees. Ive also thought maybe its possible that the retorque is done at 90 deg. after setting at 29ft-lbs and doing the warmup cycle from there, however, that seems like pretty low torque to be running an engine.
