Ok i am getting ready to order all my new parts, does anyone have a good place to order from that is cheap and reliable? i was wondering if this block is still salvagable, i know i can fix the other problem with a flanged sleeve but this one seems to be on the intake side and i dont know how this happened. When i order my rebuild kit i know i am gonna have to prolly goto .020 over, should i go forged? is there any reason to do this if your not going high compression or anything? i am keeping my crank, and will keep everything that the rebuild kit doesnt have in it. is there anything that i must/should replace while i am redoing this block? here is a picture of the damage on the isde of the intake cover on the picton block.

That's nothing to worry about as long as the steel sleeve on the inside isn't cracked. If that's the same cylinder, you're replacing the sleeve anyway.

Couple of ideas. Call Flagship Remanufacturing (800-282-2840) and talk to Jeff. See what the difference is between cleaning, sleeving & boring your bolck vs. what they get for a fresh cleaned & bored block - if they have one. I know they were low at one time. Maybe you're money & time ahead to just get another one if possible. He'll lay it out both ways so you can decide. Nice guy, tell him I said hello.

will do, does he know you as dhadley? i got everything down to the block, i broke a few of those rings that go around my crank when i turned it to get the pistons out. i didnt notice they werent gliding and i turned it too far and i broke 3. will those come with my new rebuild kit? i demolished the inner exhaust housing to get it off, wpouldnt come off any other way it was sealed tight, when i get more time tomm i will pressure wash the block. some of the rings on my pistons were stuck in the grooves and didnt slide freely. i assume this is what it means to have stuck rings. ither than that little hick up the bores looked excellent, no hatch markings but its over 20 years old. i think i could use these pistons again... but i am thining of going forged. dhadley is the fporged worth the extra couple hundred dollars? where can i get all my parts for this rebuild? i saw a kit on ebay that included pistons for 780...
