This is THE BEST sub forum in the world.

You may have noticed my lack of posts, this season, about this problem or that problem....

Mostly because of this sub forum, my project boat, Jesse Rae, has performed flawlessly this season, / knocks on wooden desk top/ , so far.

The answers, suggestions, advice and overall ideas found here have proved instrumental in my success with this OMC thus far.

I have been able to run her out to distances that I hadn't imagined possible, while I was struggling to get her going.

All of my kids have been catching fish, and not watching daddy work on the engine. My 12 year old caught his first striper on Father's Day, and it was a 28 lb. brute.

My whole family joined me at anchor, off of Northport's Sand City, to watch all of the surrounding fire works for 4th of July. Had burgers and dogs flowing off of my marine BBQ.

I had made a video clip, when I started working on this motor,

now I will have to make one of all the fishing and fun we are having.

ALL OF THIS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE, WITHOUT THE HELP FOUND HERE ! !

Thanks to ALL

Chalk one win for the Ford guys!! Glad to see the 351w/OMC is pulling its weight. :)

I'll have pictures of my 351W rebuild next week, we just got it off of the engine stand last night and have a few more pieces before it gets put back into the boat! Congrats to your son on he striper, too; I've never caught a 28lbs fish, much less a striper!

The thing about the 351 W, is I am more than comfortable with it.

As a teenager and into my 30's, I had nothing but 1970's Ford pick up trucks. Mostly all had the 351 W, and try as hard as I may, they are near indestructable. I have had more apart and rebuilt than I can remember.

The day that I went out to look at this 'craigslist' freebie, I wasn't aware what motor it had, until I got there. Once I peeked into engine compartment, and saw the forward distributer, My heart screamed FORD, then I looked closer and saw how high the intake manifold went up past the distibutor hole, I could have danced a jig, 351 W !!!

The rest is history.

Took my two boys out this afternoon, into the night, for a nice fishing trip.

9 year old caught 2 fluke, 2 big porgies and a cocktail bluefish.
12 year old caught 2 fluke and a sea robin.

Again, I couldn't have restored that OMC sterndrive with out all of the help found in the last few years, in Iboats ' Merc, OMC, Volvo & other I/O & Inboard Engines & Outdrives' sub forum.

Thanks again to ALL.

Got my 351w back in the boat this weekend! Hopefully I'll join the ranks of the operational Fords here in a week or two after I fix my outdrive lube leak (Merc Pre-Alpha). We'll get to see how much peppier she is with an extra 40+HP over the 233HP she used to have. :)
