For this year I've been looking at getting the trailer for my pontoon boat and I've recently gone with a bunk style trailer instead of the scissor type because of safety and a much nicer ride. So I found someone on craigslist that sells brand new 24' bunk style trailers that are galvanized, tandem axle for $1,650. I think it's a great deal and am going ahead and buying it unless somebody here has a really bad run in with these type of trailers. It's a Sandbar brand and I cant find much information on them but it looks like a very nice trailer. Let me know if any of you find anything wrong with these or if you've had a problem with them in the past. Thank you!

Is this an example of one? http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/boa/2119794921.html If so, to be honest with you Cubby, I don't like it for a couple of reasons. First, the axles are short. The way it's set up all the support for the bunks is cantilevered. Okay I guess, but I wouldn't trust it. Normal road bounce will put enormous stress on the weld joints. I'd rather have the tires under the weight. Second, there's no boarding ladder. That may sound like a petty concern, but it won't for long. Trust me. For a couple hundred bucks more I'd much prefer something like this. http://www.pontoonstuff.com/pontoon-boat/815-pontoon-trailer-tandem-axle-for-22-.asp

With those short axles and the load setting up high that trailer will ride worse than a scissor trailer, because the scissor load sits much lower.

Ha so funny, all of a sudden my Iboats/forums site wasn't working for the past day and I had put the order in. I just got it working literally 10 seconds ago and went in and cancelled my order. I have a ladder for it that I can mount on it already so I figured it would be worth the money but the guy was very convincing that it would haul my boat.....BUT now that I looked at the pontoonstuff trailer, I would much rather have that. Thank you VERY much!!!

Better yet, I just bought the one from pontoonstuff.com.......they really are much nicer and I like how the axle's are much heavier and the ladder is a must as I just went and looked at one with it. Thanks again!!

Good deal Cubby. Glad it all worked out for you. I've always been pleased when dealing with the Pontoonstuff folks. Be sure and post a pic of your newly matched rig some time.

just read all the forum answers!! never showed up when I was here a few minutes ago!! I agree with everyone--with those axles is basically a scissor trailer only cantilevered--i'm passing on it!!!

Yeah I actually drove to Indiana this past Saturday and picked up my new trailer from PontoonStuff and wow was I amazed at what I got for the money. Honestly one of the nicest trailers I've seen on the market.
