Hey Thomv, yes it does have an 8.6 beam. And it trailerable as long as you have a decent tow vehicle. They are very nice boats, expensive compared to the competition, but solid and well put together, i believe the dry weight is around 4600lbs, check out nada used boat values, it gives the weight, you can also get all the info on searay web site,in their support section you can download brouchure.

good luck
Jim

Thom...Go to the Sea Ray homepage. They have a great archive section which give detailed specs for all their models going back to the early 80's.

For what it's worth. I have an 89 220 Sundancer (23'8" loa, 8'6" beam) which I've owned for 3 years. It's been a great boat. Has a 260hp 350V8 and Alpha 1 drive. I'm on Lake Erie and I fish and overnight a lot.

Would my 97 4x4 Expedition, with the 5.4 engine, handle this boat?

Re: 24 Searay Sundancer

I think it would. I trailered mine for a while with a F150 Super Crew with the 5.4 and it did a great job. If I remember right, that rig was rated to tow 8k lbs, in the 2 wheel drive version. It's a couple of hundred lbs less than that for 4wd. Fully loaded I was towing around 6k lbs.

If the wheelbase in the Expedition is shorter that could make a difference in the towing capacity. The 5.4 has plenty of hp and torque to do the job.

Hey Thom... should be no problems as long as you have trailer brakes. My 94 is towed by a durango 4.8l v8 lots of power, and vehicle is heavy enough to prevent trailer from wagging truck. Your exp.is more powerfull and heavier should be a great combo for trailering.

Jim
