I just upgraded to a straight 24v trolling motor. I went to a 6 gauge wire as recommended by MK. The only plugs I can find are 12/24 that use a 3 wire setup. Would it hurt to use the 12v plug? Can anyone point me to a 24v 2 wire plug?

Re: 24v trolling motor plug

I run a 24 Volt only Trolling Motor. My boat had a 12/24 Volt three lead plug and receptical. I wired it ground to the black lead, positive to the red lead folded over and taped off the orange lead. It works fine.

I guess I will do the same thing. I just figured after I spent $66 for that 6 gauge wire, I should also use a plug with heavier wire.
