Hi guys, i currently have a question running in the evinrude johnson thread but i need a new prop and id like some assistane in purchasing the right pitch ect for my boat.
its a 12 foot aluminium clark, late 70's early 80s model with forward controls and 2 seats rear and forward, (no center seat.
so the weight distribution is generaly at the rear and at the front fairly evenly dispersed,
im having some planing issues, like it wil plane but im sure it could go much better,
im only using it for fishing, so im not concerned with sking orientated performance.
i just want it to plane at lowish speeds in chop, and to plane and achieve pretty good speeds in the calm.
it isnt a verry heavy boat and 25 horse is about as big as anyone puts on them.
i just would like some sugestions on how to improve it with prop pitch and anything else you think would be of relivence.
im i the process of checking if its firing right on 2 cylenders at presant, but its the silly season so work and personal comitment havnt allowed me the time yet
regards, dale

Re: 25 hore evinude prop pitch

Without specific details on the motor, present prop size (usually on the barrel or under the prop nut),max rpm and speed there isn't much we can do.The first modern 25s came out around 51 and some folks are still running them.If you need a tach
check out the tinytach reasonable and easy to install. Will work on any 2 cylinder 2 stroke.A gps is best for speed.
If your hauling 3 or 4 plus gear in that 12 footer it may plane but will be tough to
keep on plane.Weight distribution and motor trim will be critical.
Where is the antivent(cavitation) plate(just above prop) inrelation to the bottom of the transom?
